Crossing the river

Many thanks to Robin Tucker who came in recently to talk to our Sixth Form Business Studies students about marketing strategy. Robin is presently working with New World consultants after 19 years prior experience in senior strategy, commercial and marketing roles including 9 years at Vodafone.

Robin discussed a number of important aspects of strategic marketing not least the importance of "crossing the river" to see and understand how your customers perceive what you are doing. He also showed the importance of research and the need to identify the segments that generate the most value for the business.  He highlighted some key concepts with reference to his time at Vodafone and some more recent projects in the equine and payroll sectors.

This talk was one of series of workshops organised by the Business Studies department involving parents to help students apply their understanding of business to real life situations.
