Excellent A level results

Yesterday, d'Overbroeck's Sixth Form was filled with students in celebratory mood, having received their A and AS level exam results.

Andrew Lam (pictured) flew for 13 hours from Hong Kong to learn that he had secured his university place for next year.

Overall, our upper sixth achieved superb results. 50% of grades received were A's – almost twice the national average of 25.9%:

Highlights included
  • 100% A grades in Russian, German, Ancient Greek and Japanese;
  • 75% A grades in Philosophy;
  • 68% A grades in Maths, and 63% in Further Maths;
  • 94% A/B in Communication Studies;
  • 60% A grades in Business Studies;
  • 59% A grades in Economics;
  • 50% A grades in English Literature;
  • 100% A/B in Computing, Latin, Law, Philosophy and Religious Studies.
The grades achieved by our linguists were particularly strong. Across all Modern Languages taught at d'Overbroeck's, 94% of the grades received were A or B.

24 students achieved the admirable feat of straight A grades – six of whom were taking five A level subjects.

AS level results were also outstanding – the best in the College's history – with 64% A and B grades.

We'll be posting profiles and interviews with some of our departing upper sixth over the coming days, finding out about their stories and plans. Why not subscribe to this blog to receive news direct to your inbox or via RSS feed?
